You can’t stop me. I have someone on my side who is greater than you. I have God, who will help me. I won’t let you get me down. Fear, you are a liar. You steal happiness. You try to make us worry. But Fear, we won’t let you. I have a God who gave up his son for me. I have a God who loves me so much. Fear, you won’t get me down.
I admit, at times I am afraid. Sometimes I do fall for fear. Things are tough. All the news about the coronavirus is a bit frightening at times. God tells us not to fear and that he is with us. God will help us through this.
When I am afraid, I will trust in you.
‘For I know the plans I have for you’, declares the Lord, ‘Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.’
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
‘I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who can kill the body and after that do no more.’
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my right hand.
The Bible tells us over and over do not fear, do not be afraid, for I (God) am with you. There are many, many more verses about fear in the Bible. These are just five of them. They verses above are great verses to remember in times of fear.
This whole coronavirus thing is frightening at times. I know it is.
But that means that we need to fight fear. We need to tell Satan that he can’t hold us down. Fear is a liar. Fear will rob you of happiness. Fear will make you miserable. Trust me, it will. People all over the world are living in fear right now. They are panicking, and as a result of that panic, the do things. They buy $100 of toilet paper (yes, it is true.). They hoard things. They live in fear that they will catch the virus.
Not every one is living in fear. But for those that aren’t, other peoples’ fear is making it hard to do some things. Like, buy toilet paper when you actually need it. Or get bread, potatoes, rice, pasta….you get the point. Peoples’ fear is preventing some children from getting food each day. There are kids out there who only get food at school, and if the don’t go to school, they don’t eat. People might die from other things than the coronavirus because of the panic. This isn’t easy, nor is it fun. But it is the truth. God does not want us to live in fear, Satan does. I think Satan is probably having a party right now. And that is sad. We don’t want Satan to win, and Satan WON’T WIN!
The coronavirus is making many people fear. But Christians need to fight fear. We need to be praying for this situation. We need to pray for all those who are affected by the virus, and for those who have the virus. Prayer is powerful. And Prayer can help this world. Please be praying for this whole coronavirus situation!
Where I live, it feels like everything is shutting down. A few days ago the local university announced that it will be closing on March 16th. A day or two ago all the Public schools around here announced that they will also be closing the 16th. Even though I am homeschooled the closings greatly affect me. School closings mean that the Theatre is closed (I am in Frozen Jr.), it means that we won’t have our homeschool group or the rehearsals for our homeschool play. It might even mean no Church. Church was canceled for tomorrow as well as youth group. They said they are taking it week by week. Everything here is closed down for three weeks. It has been hard finding out all of these things. And I wonder if all the closing and canceling is really necessary. Last I heard there had only been 13 case of the coronavirus in the state where I live, and none of them were near where we live. Believe me, I do not like the thought being stuck at home for the next three weeks. I never thought it would come to this. But it has.
Maybe some of you will also be at home a lot the next few weeks. If you are I will be posting a separate post with things to do while you are at home.
I pray that all is well with you and your family and friends. Please feel free to post any prayer requests in the comments. I am willing to pray for anyone you know who is in need.
Thank you for reading. I know this is a kind of long post, but I wanted to be really with you. Please be praying for the whole coronavirus situation. Our world needs prayer.
